I want answers from people who are in school or are a massage therapist like what all goes on and what kind of stuff are need for school and what classes are took as requirements?Well im thinking bout becoming a massage therapist?
Not a massage therapist but I get massages every other week. I love my therapist, she is great. School did take her 2 years, but she also wanted to get her associates degree so she could continue on to become a physical therapist one day. She recently told me she found a less expensive school and wished she had done her research. I suggest you google message therapy schools, compare the classes and talk to students from the schools. Also, stop by a massage place and talk with some of the therapist. Good for you. People should explore all types of healthy ways to maintain their bodies and a good massage revitalizes me everytime.Well im thinking bout becoming a massage therapist?
Very important to choose a good school that will provide a good education. There are many poor ones out there that sprung up overnight. Visit different schools, and do find out about the pass rate on the board exams. A poor school will have a poor pass rate. Anatomy and Physiology is typically one of the more difficult classes if it is taught right, be prepared for that. Be prepared to memorize many muscles and nerves required to pass the board exams.

Any massage therapists in the l.a area?
are there any massage therapists (female preferred) in the l.a area. i have a really bad back and don't really know much about massage therapy.Any massage therapists in the l.a area?
Massage Therapy is an amazing tool for trying to control pain if it's done by someone with a lot of experience. One place you could check is a School of Massage Therapy. Also, check the community college to see if they might be able to help you find a good massage therapist.
Sometimes a Pain Management doctor or chiropractor will offer these services. With a Pain Management doctor if they offer it on site like mine does chances are great that insurance will cover the treatments.
I have had fibromyalgia for almost 4 years as far as an official diagnosis and when I started to get treatments with the Massage Therapist I started to get some good results with the girl that was working for her.
The technique that the girl used was deep tissue. I always felt very relaxed after one of these massages. One other thing if you decide to do this. Make sure that you drink a ton of water afterward because the massage makes the toxins that build up in your body come to the surface. The first time it happened (because I didn't drink the water as recommended figuring that it wasn't necessary) I went to one of my other doctors for an appt and they found bilirubin (one of the things our liver makes) in my urine.
It was because my body was trying to rid itself of the toxins. I made sure after that to drink a lot of water.
Another site that may help you find information about massage therapists in your area is the American Association of Massage Therapists (or similar name for the organization that has information about Massage Therapy).

What do you have to do to become a massage therapist?
What's massage school like? What do you have to do to become a massage therapist?
Most states and cities require a minimum of 500 hours of courses. Then depending on where you would like to work, you may need to aquire the National Certification (which is a 2 hour test and cost between 175 and 200 to take) Also , there is the State Nursing board, which is just a $25. fee. I am a massage therapist and used to teach massage at the ARE in Virginia. Massage school for me was the greatest transformation of my life! You learn so much more than just massage! You learn a lot about yourself and life.It was just thee best time of my life. I love it so much that I stayed at the school and became the instructor. You will have to learn anatomy/physiology -which is difficult- I won't lie! I just kept my flash cards with me at all times. There is a lot of Latin terminology! Then you have an Ethics course , which you will learn a lot about the Buisness part of Therapy. I went to the ARE which is the Association for Research and Enlightenment- Edgar Cayce's foundation. The BEST school in the whole Country! We had several other classes, Cayce's Remedies, Tai Chi, Dreams and Meditation, Hydrotherapy(steams and facials)Reflexology, acupressure,Intermediate and Advanced massage. There are several other courses you can add on. I hope you choose this path , You won't regret it. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me., Whoops, almost for got - you also have to go to City Hall and get a permit to work as a therapist in the city, it will cost around $30.What do you have to do to become a massage therapist?
I don't know much about this, but I'm sure you'll have to have some anatomy and physiology classes....you'll have to learn all the muscles and their respective groups. You'll also have to be able to physically perform a massage, which can be very tiring to your arms and hands. Check with your local community colleges, or other colleges and see what they offer. Before you check on this, make sure that there is a need for this in your community. It doesn't do any good for you to have all this training and certifications if you can't get a job, or have the clientele to support you. Best of luck to you.
i go to massage therapy school in florida. i paid for tuition and got in. 750hrs are required and you have to pass the state board test, and then you will receive a licence to practice. every school is different. you usually can look up the school you want to go to on the internet and get the info the school requires. massage school isnt as easy as some people think, you have to know about 70 to 80 muscles where they are, how they work, bones of the body, massage history and practices, state law, and its very fast paced. dont let it scare you, stick with it. you have many career options, and very good pay. 60 dollars an hour and up.

How do you not fall in love with your massage therapist?
She is awesome, maybe she should kick me a couple of times when she is done or something, I want to buy her a house and spend the rest of my life serving her. HELPHow do you not fall in love with your massage therapist?
It is common. It is called transference. You are projecting your early childhood needs onto her. I would recommend getting therapy. It isn't that it is wrong to feel that way- it is just showing you what you didn't get early in life.
It happens in professional relationships like this alot. How do you not fall in love with your massage therapist?
Yeah, I get marriage proposals all the time! Just yesterday a client asked, ';Will you marry me? My wife won't mind!';
Here's the painful reality of it all: Guess who in my life gets the LEAST amount of massage, like maybe just feet %26amp; hands every two months? My significant other! The last thing I want to do after a hard day of work is to come home and work some more. No way. He massages me!
You can keep from falling in love with her by remembering that if you weren't paying her, she wouldn't massage you...maybe ever again...and she might even bite your head off just for asking!
LMAO. Awesome question. I don't know, man. Try to remember that it's just her job, and she does it for everyone, even old scary fat guys.
please help me with my problem:

If want to do her a favor find another therapist and then ask her out if you still are interested. It makes things ethical and legal and save her a bunch of grief. Do her that favor. Good luck and have a great day!

What is the best brand of shoes for a massage therapist?
What brand of shoe is comfortable enough to be worn all day for such an active job? What is the best brand of shoes for a massage therapist?
Birkenstocks..............What is the best brand of shoes for a massage therapist?
Everyone's feet are different. What works for me may not work for you. Wear what works for your feet.
Just found a new store, ';The Walking Store';. They should be able to help you. I teach school and have a bone spur. I just bought some Ecco sandals for a lot of walking in France with students. Tres bon!

How can we find him a job as a massage therapist?
Asking for my husband who is an insured and licensed CMT in the Denver area.... he can't seem to find a job :(
We really need him to be working as we are floundering in debt from paying for him to go to school and being out of work for a year.
Seems everyone wants a female therapist or we are marketing wrong. Please give us some ideas for finding work or going into business for his own.
Thanks! How can we find him a job as a massage therapist?
It can be more difficult as a male massage therapist in Denver. Many have started out by working part time (and their own practice) at clubs, clinics, chiropractic offices. You might check Stanley Lake Massage Therapy as a potential employer. How can we find him a job as a massage therapist?
See if he can subcontract with your local gym, tennis house, hockey arena, et al.
Also, when they have the ';girls night out'; at the local high schools, set up a table with discount coupons - perhaps with his massage table set up and someone there, to show women that it's not so scary.
I would also stress on how, because of a man's upper body strength, things like shoulder massages are more effective - focus on the things he can do better.
