It depends on what state you live in and if equine massage is regulated by the professional massage board or veterinarians. Some states require that you go to massage school for human massage and get licensed and get extra training in equine massage. It the state you live in doesn't have any licensing I would bet that they soon will have something in place. I would recommend that you get involved in it.
I'm not sure if any special degree or license is needed to massage animals(horses). If you check out this website, you should be able to get all your questions answered.
